Brisbane City Council is currently undertaking statutory advertising of proposed amendments to the Biodiversity Areas Overlay provisions of City Plan 2014. The proposed amendments are currently open to public submission until 5pm on Friday 2 June 2017.
The proposed amendments seek to update the Biodiversity Areas Overlay mapping and how it affects numerous sites throughout Brisbane, whilst also introducing new categories of identified ecological significance.
Whilst the amended mapping appears to rectify previous errors and include additional land where current or strategic biodiversity values exist, we are also aware of a number of greenfield and brownfield sites which are intended to be included in the Overlay mapping despite appearing to exhibit limited if any current or strategic biodiversity value.
If you own or are looking to purchase a site which you believe may be affected by the proposed amendments please feel free to contact our office.
